FOPBS Mission & Goals

'FOPBS mission is to provide and support a healthy hot lunch program for the students of PBCCS,  The goal of FOPBS is to be financially responsible for the funds to promote and run such a program.  Those financial means will be met through many venus such as student account payments, specific lunch program fundraisers and/or donations, grants and volunteer support.  FOPBS will be working closely with the PBCCS to ensure that the students are offered a filling and nutritious meal in a wholesome, clean and safe environment'.

Friends of Powell Butte School, (FOPBS), a non profit 501(c)(3) was formed in August of 2009 to collect the funds needed ($274,000) to keep the 4th and 5th grades at the then Powell Butte Elementary School.  The $274,000 figure included a $100,000 loan.  With fundraisers sponsored by FOPBS and the dedication of the community, the loan was satisfied in August of 2010.

Friends of Powell Butte School and the original PBES PTC (parent-teachers club) agreed to join together in year of 2010  and help provide the needs of the Powell Butte Community Charter School.   Presently FOPBS is the entity  providing a hot lunch program for the students of PBCCS.  The lunch program receives no government funding or financial help from the school budget and thrives mainly on income from fundraisers and student account payments.
